The ITU Gender Champions Programme recognizes and supports young women who are using technology and digital innovation to create meaningful change in their communities, countries, or regions. The programme aims to strengthen the leadership and impact of emerging women leaders advancing digital transformation and digital inclusion.
For its inaugural cohort, ITU will select up to four young women aged 18–25. The programme welcomes applicants working in areas such as digital skills and literacy, connectivity, innovative technology solutions, online safety, artificial intelligence for social good, and inclusive digital policies.
The call is open to eligible applicants from Africa, the Americas, Arab States, Asia and the Pacific, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
What the Programme Offers
Selected Gender Champions will:
Join a global network of young women advancing digital transformation and inclusion.
Connect with experts, policymakers, and innovators.
Have the opportunity to participate in the AI for Good Global Summit 2027 in Geneva, Switzerland.
Have the opportunity to strengthen their leadership and amplify the impact of their work.
Subject to available funding, may receive support to implement or strengthen a community-level project advancing women's and girls' digital inclusion, access, skills, or empowerment.
Eligibility
Applicants should:
Be young women aged 18–25.
Be using technology or digital innovation to create positive and meaningful change in their community, country, or region.
Be contributing to areas related to digital transformation, digital inclusion, or related fields such as digital skills, connectivity, online safety, AI for social good, or inclusive digital policy.
